Macquarie Stud Booklet
Macquarie’s 20th year will certainly be one to remember. A welcome turnaround in the seasonal conditions in most areas has seen a big relief for most. Our thoughts go out to those those clients still experiencing drought conditions.
Lamb and mutton has come off from the highs seen earlier in the year but are still at historical high levels.
The wool market however has been severely affected by COVID and is currently less than half the value as at this time last year.
Although rurally the COVID restrictions hasn’t had a huge impact on us directly it will potentially have an affect on interstate buyers at our on property sale. Hence , we are interfacing with Auctions Plus where photos and videos will be included for each ram.
As the Ballarat ram sale is in jeopardy and other southern sales and field days were cancelled, 2018 drop reserve rams normally allocated for these events will be offered at our on property sale.
After a abhorrent start the rams have come along well enhancing the robustness of Macquarie Dohnes. Since shearing, the rams have endured 366 mm of rain …. more than the previous 3 year total. The wools are superb as is their make and shape.
Whilst our figures aren’t the best in the business they are consistent and constantly improving at expected levels and are above the breed averages. We believe however, that the make , shape , structure , wool quality and quantity is the number one.
In saying that, we currently have the 3rd ranked sire in the country and the no.1 ranked 2019 drop ram.
For those unable to attend the sale or if Covid restrictions tighten we have a sale viewing day this Thursday (10th) from 9am. Auction rams and young sires will be displayed. Catalogues will be available.
All wool photos and ram videos will be available on Auctions Plus by Monday September 14.
Rams can be shorn and delivered (free of charge) as per Covid restrictions.
Congratulations to clients on the their recent weaning weights showing just how well the Dohne can perform :
